Granny’s Homemade Steak Sauce

 

1/2 cup cold water
1/4 cup raisins
1/2 cup balsamic vinegar
1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
1/4 cup ketchup
1/4 cup Dijon mustard
a pinch of cayenne pepper
1/4 tsp. black pepper
2 garlic cloves, cubed

1/2 sweet onion sliced
1/2 tsp. celery seed
1/4 tsp. kosher salt
2 Tbsps. orange juice

 

Mix together all ingredients into a sauce pan.   Simmer over low heat for about 15 minutes, until bubbles just start to surface, Do Not bring to a rolling boil.   Remove from heat, let cool about 15 minutes.   Pour through cheese cloth and squeeze out all juices.   Let cool completely then use in your favorite dishes.

Makes about 1 3/4 cups

 

Variations:

Used only one clove of garlic

Omit the onion

Add more salt and pepper to taste after sauce is completely cooled.
