Great Granny’s Sugar Cookies


2 cups sugar

2 eggs

2 tsp lemon juice

1 cup sour cream

1 cup butter

1 tsp nutmeg

4 cups flour

1 tsp baking powder

1 tsp baking soda

1 tsp salt

Powdered sugar or your favorite frosting


Cream together sugar, eggs, lemon juice, butter, sour cream; beat in nutmeg, flour, baking powder, soda and salt.   Chill overnight.


Preheat oven to 350° F.  Roll out dough to 1/4 inch thick and cut into desired shapes.   Bake 8 to 10 minutes,   Cool a few minutes then transfer to wax paper.   When completely cool dust with powdered sugar or decorate with your favorite frosting.
