Granny’s Jubilee Jumbles

1/2 cup shortening
1 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
1 + 1/4 cup evaporated canned milk
2 3/4 cups flour, all purpose
1/2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
Nuts, optional
2 cups chocolate chips
2 Tbsp butter, soft
2 cups powdered sugar

Preheat oven to 375° F. Mix together shortening, sugars, eggs, vanilla; stir in 1 cup canned milk. Add flour, soda, salt, nuts, chocolate chips. Bake 10 minutes.

Cream together icing: melt butter, add powdered sugar and 1/4 cup canned milk. Ice cookies while they are still warm.

Variation: add raisins in place of nuts and then after you frost the cookies press into chopped nuts; or top icing with sprinkles.
