Granny’s Fruit Syrup

April 21, 2017

Granny’s Fruit Syrup

2 cups fruit juice

1 cup sugar, brown or white

Over medium heat in a medium saucepan, combine the juice and brown sugar.   Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to medium low and continue simmering, stirring occasionally, for about 30 minutes until the mixture is reduced by about 2/3rd.    Remove from heat and let cool, it will thicken as it cools.

Make syrup in small batches for the best results.   At the most use 4 cups juice and 2 cups sugar.

Variations:

For apple cider syrup add a couple cinnamon sticks for flavor.
