Cheese Biscuit Loaf

April 8, 2017

Cheese Biscuit Loaf
3 cups flour
1 Tbsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. cayenne pepper
1/8 tsp. black pepper
4 oz. cheddar cheese, diced or shredded
1 1/4 cups milk
3/4 cup sour cream
3 Tbsps. butter, room temperature
1 egg, lightly beaten

Heat oven to 350 degrees F.    Grease a 9×5 loaf pan.

In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, cayenne pepper and black pepper.    Carefully stir in diced cheese until covered in flour mixture.*

In another bowl, whisk together milk, sour cream, butter and egg.   Fold milk mixture into the flour mixture, and stir just until combined, do not over stir.    Spread into prepared loaf pan.

Bake for 45 to 50 minutes. Remove from oven and let cool 10 minutes.   Remove from pan.    Allow to cool for one hour before slicing and serving.

*Putting the cheese in the flour will help prevent your cheese from sinking to the bottom of your loaf.

Add a little garlic and parsley to the mix…

Use Pepper Jack Cheese for an added zip to the bread
