Granny’s Homemade Tater Tots


3 lbs. potatoes

½ cup flour

1 egg

Salt and Pepper to taste

Oil for frying


Peel and grate potatoes, wrap in paper towel and press out excess liquid.   Mix potatoes together with egg, then season with salt and pepper; mix in flour well.   Potatoes should be fairly dry.   Form into small balls or tots .   Heat oil in cast iron skillet and fry until crispy and golden.   Drain on paper towel.


You can freeze the tots after frying.   Later remove from freezer and bake in oven at 400 degrees F. for about 10 minutes or so.


Variation: you can add your favorite seasons to the mix, cayenne pepper, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder….make your own family favorite!
