1 pound walnut halves
1 cup sugar
2 tsp ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp salt
6 Tbsp milk
1 tsp vanilla extract
Preheat oven to 250 degrees F. Spread nuts in a single layer on baking sheet. Roast 15 to 20 minutes; the wonderful aroma will flow thru your home.
Stir together sugar, cinnamon, salt, and milk in a medium saucepan for syrup. Cook over medium-high heat 8 minutes, or until the mixture reaches soft ball stage of 236 degrees F. Remove from heat; stir in vanilla.
Add walnuts to syrup; stir to coat well. Spoon nuts onto waxed paper, immediately separate nuts with a fork.
