Swedish Angel Crisps


1 cup shortening

½ cup sugar

½ cup brown sugar

1 egg

1 tsp. vanilla

2 cups flour

½ tsp. salt

1 tsp. baking soda

1 tsp cream of tartar

Water for dipping

Sugar for dipping


Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.


Cream shortening, sugars, egg and vanilla.   Add flour, salt, baking soda and cream of tartar, mix together well.   Roll into balls, the size of a walnut.   Dip top in water, then in sugar.    Place sugar side up on baking sheet, dent top with your finger and bake 8 to 10 minutes or until edges are golden brown.   Cool on rack.   Enjoy!
