1 1/2 cups sliced fresh mushrooms
1 1/2 cups chopped zucchini, cooked spinach or broccoli, pat dry
1 cups cubed fully cooked ham or fry up 1 lb. bacon
3/4 cups chopped onions
3/4 cups chopped green pepper
1 garlic cloves, minced
2 Tbsp vegetable oil
8 ounce cream cheese, softened
1/4 cup half-and-half cream
2 cups cubed day-old bread
1 2/3 cups shredded Cheddar cheese
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
In a large skillet heat oil and sauté mushrooms, zucchini, ham, onions, green peppers and garlic tender. (if using bacon, fry it up then add veggies, garlic and sauté until tender) Drain and pat dry; set aside.
In a large bowl cream together cream cheese and eggs. Stir in the bread, cheese, salt, pepper and sautéed vegetables and meat.
Pour into greased 9×13 baking dish and chill over night.
Next day set out dish to take the chill off, about 30 minutes. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Bake 30 to 35 minutes or until knife inserted comes out clean. Let stand 15 minutes. Serve 12.
