Granny’s Pin Wheels with Gravy

Make biscuits, recipe below; roll out 1 inch thick. Make Meat loaf, recipe below; put on top of rolled out biscuits. Roll up together and pinch ends; cut into 1 inch slices.

Bake on cookie sheet for 20 to 25 minutes at 350 degrees F. Cover with gravy recipe below. Extra pin wheels freeze well.


2 cups sifted flour
1 Tbsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
¾ cup milk
1/3 cup shortening

Sift together dry ingredients. Cut in shortening until crumbly. Add milk until dough forms. Roll out dough.

Meat Loaf

1 lb lean ground beef
2 eggs, beaten
1 cup oatmeal
½ cup chopped onion, or ½ shallot chopped
½ cup chopped celery
½ cup chopped tomatoes, optional
½ cup chopped green pepper, optional
1 shredded carrot, optional
3 Tbsp. ketchup
chili powder, salt and pepper

Mix well, with your hands ground beef with veggies, oatmeal, ketchup and spices.


4 Tbsp. Meat drippings or butter
2 cups Milk or cream
4 Tbsp. flour
spice to taste

Combine drippings and flour, stirring over a medium heat until smooth. Stirring constantly add heated milk, and salt and pepper to taste. If butter is used, add onion, celery and garlic powder for extra flavor.
