Vanilla Chip Cranberry Bars

2 1/4 cup flour

1 tsp baking powder

1/2 tsp baking soda

1 tsp salt

2/3 cup brown sugar

1/2 cup sugar

1/2 cup butter, soft

2 eggs

2 tsp vanilla

1 cup cranberries, chopped

1 cup walnuts, chopped

2 cups vanilla chips, divided

1 Tbsp shortening

Preheat oven to 350° F.     Grease 9×13 baking pan.   Combine together flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt.   Cream together sugars and butter until light and fluffy; beat in vanilla and eggs, one at a time. Gradually beat in flour mixture just until combined.   Fold in cranberries, walnuts and 1 1/2 cups vanilla chips.   Spread batter into prepared pan.   Bake 30 to 40 minutes or until golden brown.

Over low heat melt remaining vanilla chips and shortening, stirring occasionally.   Drizzle over warm bars.   Cool completely, about an hour.   Cut into 36 bars.
