Double Layer Fudge

Double Layer Fudge


2 ¼ cups sugar

¼ cup butter

1 cup marshmallow crème, 5 oz.

¾ cup evaporated milk

½ cup semi sweet chocolate chips

½ cup caramel, butterscotch, white chocolate or peanut butter chips

Chopped nuts, coconut or crushed peppermint pieces for topping, optional


In heavy 2 quart saucepan mix sugar, butter, marshmallow crème and milk.   Cook and stir to a full, all over boil.   Boil and stir over medium heat 5 minutes. Remove from heat.


Pour half mixture into two heat proof bowls.   Add chocolate chips into one bowl and other chips into the other bowl.   Quickly stir until each are melted.


Quickly pour one layer into 8×8 square pan, top with other layer.   Top with nuts, coconut or crushed peppermint pieces, optional.   Cool, cut into 24 pieces and serve.


Variation: mix chopped peanut, walnuts, almonds or pecans into one layer of fudge…


Double recipe for 9×13 pan.
