Granny’s Pastry Delights

1 pie crest, unbaked

3 oz cream cheese, room temperature

Zest of one orange, lemon or lime

1/4 cup jam or jelly, your favorite at room temperature

½ cup chocolate chips, your favorite

1 egg, slightly beaten

2 tsp sugar

Three finger pinch of cinnamon

Heat oven to 350°F. Grease or Line cookie sheet with cooking parchment paper.

Roll out pie crust on floured board.

Stir cream cheese and orange peel until blended. Spread cream cheese mixture evenly over crust. Brush jam evenly over cream cheese mixture. Cut crust into 16 triangles, using pizza wheel or knife. Sprinkle chocolate chips evenly over triangles. Roll up each triangle much like you would a croissant.

Place pastries, point side down, on prepared cookie sheet. Brush egg on tops and sides of pastries. Mix sugar and cinnamon together and sprinkle evenly over top.

Bake 20 to 25 minutes or until light golden brown. Remove from cookie sheet to cooling rack. Cool at least 10 minutes before serving.
