Granny’s Granola Bars

4 ½ cups rolled oats
1 cup flour,
1 tsp baking soda
1 Tbsp vanilla
2/3 cup butter, soft
1/3 cup honey
1/3 cup brown sugar, packed
1/3 cup maple syrup, optional
2 cups assorted mix of chocolate chips, raisins, dried cranberries or cherries, chopped nuts, seeds like pumpkin, sunflower, flax or sesame.

Preheat oven to 325 degrees F. (165 degrees C). Butter a 9×13 pan. Mix together oats, flour, soda, vanilla, butter, honey, brown sugar and syrup if using. Stir in 2 cups assorted goodies. Lightly press mixture into prepared pan and bake 15 to 20 minutes or until golden brown. Let cool 10 minutes then cut into bars. Let bars cool completely in pan before removing or serving.

Variations: Add ½ cup applesauce, 1/4 cup peanut butter, ½ tsp cinnamon.
Use Rice flour and gluten free oats to make a gluten free bar.
